EDZNA-CAMPECHEEdzna a Puuc-style mayan city of the classic period, reached the height of its glory between 900 and 1200 A.D., not only in architecture but in engineering as well. The most important structure is the Great Pyramid. Other important structures are the Ball Court, the Temple of the Old woman, the Temple of the Stelae and the Temple of the Giant Masks. Colonial Campeche’s wall and forts still speak of bygone buccaneer raids. Lunch is included. 8am to 6 pm. Pivate service only available. Price subject to number of persons.
OXKINTOK, HACIENDAS AND CELESTUN BEACHOn the way to Oxkintok, an ancient mayan site in process of restoration, visit Kanachen, an old hacienda with hemp-processing machinery still in operation. Proceed to Granada, Santo Domingo, Kochol and Chunchumil, old hemp-processing haciendas no longer in operation. Continue to Celestun beach, the main feeding ground of the pink flamingo. An exciting boat ride along the estuary will offer the sight of hundreds of flamingos and variety of birds in a lush tropical setting. Time to enjoy the beautiful Celestun beach.
